The essay as architecture
A great essay is less like a painting than a building. A painting may dazzle with colour; an essay must, above all, stand up. Its foundation is a clear position — a single, unambiguous answer to the question posed. Without it, no amount of elegant vocabulary or sophisticated grammar can save the structure from collapse.
Upon this foundation rest the supporting walls: the body paragraphs. Each must bear a distinct load — one central idea, fully developed, fully explained, and anchored by example. A paragraph that wanders between three half-formed thoughts supports nothing; it merely sprawls. The discipline of "one idea, one paragraph" is not a stylistic nicety but a structural necessity.
Binding it all together is the mortar of cohesion — the references, the linking words, the logical progression that carry the reader smoothly from foundation to roof. And crowning the whole is the conclusion: not a new wing hastily added, but the roof that completes what the rest has built, sheltering the central argument one final time.
The examiner, surveying this structure, asks a simple question: does it stand? Is the position clear, the support solid, the whole coherent? Brilliance of language matters, certainly — but a dazzling façade on a crooked frame fools no one. Build well, and the words will have something worth adorning.

11. Chuqur tahlil — qo'shimcha faktlar va nozikliklar (IELTS 9 fokusi)
C1 dan C2 ga ko'prik.
(a) Task Response band 9 — aniq deskriptor. "Fully addresses all parts of the task; presents a fully developed position with relevant, fully extended and well supported ideas." Uch kalit: (1) all parts (har qism), (2) fully developed position (aniq, to'liq pozitsiya), (3) fully extended ideas (g'oyalar chuqur rivojlangan). Bu uchtasiz — band 7 ham olib bo'lmaydi.
(b) Eng katta xato — til emas, Task Response. Examinerlar aytadi: ko'p nomzod yaxshi inglizcha yozadi, lekin savolni noto'g'ri tushunadi yoki bir qismini tashlab ketadi yoki pozitsiyasi noaniq.
