1. Dars nomi, maqsad va motivatsiya

Real hayotda biz kamdan-kam aniq raqam aytamiz. Ko'pincha taxminan gapiramiz: "taxminan 50 kishi", "ko'pchilik odamlar", "umuman olganda yaxshi", "deyarli tugadi". Bu — taxminiylik (approximation), miqdor (quantity) va umumlashtirish (generalization) tili. Ingliz tilida buning juda boy vositalari bor: about, roughly, or so, the majority, on the whole, tend to, more or less.

Bu darsda — B2 grammatika blokining yakuni — ushbu tilni chuqur o'rganamiz. Bu IELTS uchun (ayniqsa Task 1 — grafik/ma'lumot tasvirlash) va professional muloqot uchun zarur: aniq raqamni bilmaganda yoki umumiy tendensiyani aytganda native qanday gapiradi. Bu — "tabiiy, ravon" eshitilishning kalitidir.

Real hayotda nega kerak:

• Taxmin: "There were about 200 people, give or take."
• Tendensiya: "On the whole, sales tend to rise in summer."
• Umumlashtirish: "The majority of users prefer dark mode."
• Yumshatish: "It's kind of complicated, sort of."

O'xshatish — "rasmni qalin chizish": aniq raqam — o'tkir, ingichka qalam (200 ta aniq). Taxminiylik — qalin, yumshoq qalam ("200 atrofida"). Real suhbatda biz ko'pincha qalin chiziq bilan gapiramiz — chunki aniq raqam (a) ko'pincha noma'lum, (b) muhim emas. Faqat rasmiy/ilmiy kontekstda o'tkir qalam kerak.

Til-kontrast fakti: o'zbek tilida taxminiylik "taxminan, -lar, -cha" bilan beriladi ("ellikcha kishi"). Ingliz tilida esa ko'p alohida so'z bor (about, around, roughly, approximately, or so, give or take) — va ularning registeri farq qiladi: approximately (rasmiy/ilmiy), about/around (neytral), or so/-ish (norasmiy/og'zaki). To'g'ri darajani tanlash muhim.

2. Avvalgi darslardan takror (spiral)

• B2-24/25 (quantifiers, count/uncount): much/many, a few. Bugun taxminiylik + umumlashtirish.
• B2-28 (comparatives): twice as much — miqdor taqqoslash.
• B2-31 (discourse markers): on the whole, in general.
• A1-12 (sonlar): asos.
• Tez mashq: "taxminan 100" about/around 100. "ko'pchilik" the majority / most.

3. Grammatika — chuqur, to'liq tushuntirish

3.1. Taxminiylik (approximation) — raqam bilan

There were about/around/roughly 100 guests.
It cost £50 or so. / I'll be there at five-ish.
The population is in the region of 10 million.

Native siri: -ish og'zaki nutqda juda mahsuldor: fiveish (taxminan 5), biggish (kattaroq), youngish (yoshroq), Are you coming? — Yeah, sixish. (6 atrofida).

Rasmiy taxmin — "some + son": yozma va rasmiy uslubda son oldidagi some "taxminan"ni bildiradi: "Some 200 people attended." (taxminan 200 kishi qatnashdi), "The project took some three years." Bu og'zakidagi aboutning gazeta/hisobot registridagi muqobili — IELTS/akademik yozuvda foydali. Yana: scores of (o'nlab, ko'p), a couple of hundred (bir-ikki yuz).

3.2. Miqdor iboralari (quantity) — ko'p/oz

KO'P (sanalmaydigan): a great deal of, a large amount of, plenty of, loads of(norasmiy)

3.3. Umumlashtirish (generalization)

in general, generally (speaking), on the whole, by and large,
as a rule, for the most part, more often than not, typically, broadly speaking

In general, prices rise over time.
On the whole, the experiment was a success.
As a rule, I don't work weekends.
More often than not, the bus is late.

Bu iboralar umumiy tendensiyani bildiradi ("har doim emas, lekin odatda"). Gap boshida (vergul bilan) ko'p.

3.4. "tend to" — moyillik/tendensiya

EGA + tend to + V1  (odatda -adi)

Prices tend to fall in January. (odatda tushadi)
People tend to remember beginnings and endings.
I tend to agree with you. (yumshatish — "rozi tomonman")

tend to = "odatda/asosan -adi" — umumlashtirish + yumshatish. I tend to think... = fikrni muloyim bildirish (kategorik emas).

3.5. Ulush/proporsiya (fractions & proportions)

the majority of (ko'pchilik) / a minority of (ozchilik)
the vast majority (katta ko'pchilik) / a small minority
a third / two-thirds / three-quarters of
the bulk of (asosiy qismi) / a fraction of (kichik ulush)

3.6. Yaqinlashtirish — almost / nearly / hardly any

almost / nearly (deyarli — yetmadi): almost finished, nearly all
practically / virtually (amalda barcha): virtually impossible
hardly any / scarcely any (deyarli yo'q): hardly any money
just over / just under (sal ko'p/kam): just over half, just under 100
well over / well under (ancha ko'p/kam): well over 1000

almost/nearly + qaysi so'zlar: almost/nearly all/every/always/never/nobody. almost everybody lekin almost people almost all people / most people.

4. Misollar — turi bo'yicha

TAXMIN:     The trip takes about three hours, give or take.
            There were fifty-odd guests. / I'll come at sevenish.
MIQDOR:     We have plenty of time but very little money.
            Dozens of complaints / a handful of supporters.
UMUMIY:     On the whole, people tend to prefer convenience.
            As a rule, the early flights are cheaper.
ULUSH:      The vast majority agreed; only a fraction objected.
            Two out of three respondents said yes.
YAQIN:      The project is almost done — well over 90% complete.

5. Yangi so'zlar (Anki jadvali) + kollokatsiya

Kollokatsiya/chunk: more or less, by and large, for the most part, a fraction of, the bulk of, nine times out of ten, the odds are, as a general rule.

Native siri — yumshatish (vague language): og'zaki ingliz tilida native ataylab "noaniq" gapiradi (muloyimlik/tabiiylik uchun): "It's, like, kind of expensive.", "...and stuff like that.", "...or something.", "...and so on." Bu — xato emas, og'zaki uslub belgisi. Yozma tilda esa aniqlik kerak.

6. Dialog + o'qish matni

Dialog (loyiha hisoboti): A: So, how many users do we have now? B: Roughly fifty thousand, give or take. The vast majority are on mobile. A: Nice. And growth? B: On the whole, it's steady. We tend to gain a few hundred a week — more or less. A: What about complaints? B: Only a handful, thankfully. Nine times out of ten, it's a login issue. A: OK. And the new feature? B: It's almost ready — well over ninety percent done. As a rule, testing takes a couple of weeks, so we're looking at, what, mid-March-ish? A: Broadly speaking, that works. Just keep me posted.

The myth of the average

We love averages. The "average person," we're told, sleeps roughly eight hours, earns approximately a certain salary, and has, give or take, two children. But here's the catch: almost nobody is actually average.

By and large, statistics describe groups, not individuals. The majority of people fall somewhere near the middle, but a significant minority don't. More often than not, treating everyone as "average" leads to poor decisions.

Consider design. For the most part, products built for the "average user" fail to fit anyone perfectly. As a rule, the best designs allow for variety — because, broadly speaking, humans tend to differ far more than numbers suggest.

So the next time someone quotes an average, ask: average of what, exactly? The truth, more often than not, lies in the spread — not the middle.

7. O'zbekcha-inglizcha tipik xatolar (L1 transfer)

8. Chuqur tahlil — qo'shimcha faktlar va nozikliklar

B2 dan C1 ga ko'prik.

(a) "most" — uchta shakl (B2-24 takror). most people (umumiy, of-siz), most of the people (aniq guruh), the most (superlativ — eng). Uchovi boshqa: Most students fail (umuman) ≠ Most of the students failed (aniq).

(b) "-ish" — har joyga. Raqam (sixish), sifat (reddish, oldish), vaqt (lunchtime-ish), hatto yolg'iz javob ("Are you ready?" — "Ish." = taxminan). Eng moslashuvchan og'zaki qo'shimcha.

"odd"ning uch ma'nosi (chalkashmang). thirty-odd (raqamdan keyin = "ortiq", ~30+); the odd mistake (ot oldida, birlik = "vaqti-vaqti bilan bo'ladigan, bittayarim" — We get the odd complaint = "goh-goh shikoyat bo'ladi"); an odd number/an odd man (= g'alati / toq). Kontekst hal qiladi.

(c) "the odds are / chances are / likely" — ehtimollik. Chances are it'll rain (ehtimol yog'adi), The odds are against us (ehtimoli kam), nine times out of ten (deyarli har doim). Taxminiylikning "ehtimollik" qardoshi.

(d) Yumshatish — hedging (C1 ko'prik). It seems/appears..., It tends to..., sort of, more or less, to some extent, arguably — fikrni kategorik emas, ehtiyotkor qilish. Akademik/diplomatik yozuvda muhim (C1-4 hedging).

(e) "a couple of" — aniq 2 emas. a couple of days = "ikki-uch kun" (aniq 2 emas, og'zaki). a couple texnik 2, lekin amalda "bir nechta". a few = 3-4.

(f) Approximation + comparative. just over/under, well over/under, a little more/less than, somewhere between X and Y, anything up to — raqam atrofini aniqlash. anything up to 50 (50 gacha).

(g) "vast majority vs slight majority". the vast/overwhelming majority (juda ko'p, ~90%+) vs a slight/narrow majority (sal ko'p, ~51%). Sifat ko'pchilik darajasini aniqlaydi.

(h) Generalization — fe'l zamoni. Umumiy haqiqat Present Simple (People tend to..., Prices generally rise). Umumlashtirish doim hozirgi zamonda (zamonsiz haqiqat). (B2-1 Present Simple.)

(i) IELTS Task 1 — proporsiya va tendensiya tili. Grafik/diagramma tasvirlashda taxminiylik va ulush tili yadro ko'nikma. Proporsiya: a significant/substantial proportion (sezilarli ulush), the overwhelming/vast majority (aksariyat), roughly a third, just under half, well over two-thirds. Tendensiya (zamon: doim Present, ma'lumot "zamonsiz"): figures tend to peak in summer, sales generally fluctuate around 500, the number remained at approximately 200. Aniq raqamni "taxminlash" bu yerda ataylab: grafikdan aniq o'qish qiyin, shuning uchun around/just over/well over bilan yumshatiladi. percent (son bilan: 20 percent) vs percentage (umumiy: a high percentage of) — chalkashtirmang.
